Florida

We have finally arrived in Florida. Much longer drive than we were used to but uneventful, the best kind of trip. We are at Forest Grove campground in Fort Walton Beach. The campground is small but nice and given that we are going to be here for 6 months, we wanted someplace where we could be close to stores, etc. The nicest beaches are in Destin which is about a 20 minute drive.

Our day at the beach

Buddy and Jenna brought the new baby twin boys from NICU finally! What a blessing, and the girls, Sadie and Daisy just love the babies!!

Back to Georgia!

We’re back at Brush Creek campground in good old Georgia. We’ll be here for about 2 more weeks. Catching up on things we still have to wrap up. It’s been a crazy and great trip so far. Some setbacks (some larger than others) but Laura and I have not killed each other yet, so that’s a plus.

Just a montage of our trek so far…

Dad’s Bluegrass campground

Here we are in Franklin Kentucky at Dad’s Bluegrass campground. As far as campgrounds go, it’s pretty basic, but it has water, 50 amp power and sewer hookups, so I am happy! I did some golfing on Tuesday at Kenny Perry’s golf course and today, we went to the Corvette museum. So many Corvettes and so many interesting stories about them. If you’re into Corvettes then this is a must do.

We just had to go and see the Bob Ross experience! All those happy little trees and majestic mountains! Lots of his paintings there and cool stories about how they filmed each episode.

After a well earned and relaxing pedicure, todaywe went to the Lost River Cave. We took the boat tour of the river in the cave. Nature is crazy!

After a quick stop at this weird display (first four pictures), we visited Octagon Hall. Built in 1847, Octagon Hall stands today as a monument to a by gone era. The hall has been residence, Masonic meeting lodge, a hospital, and even served as a safe house for soldiers during the Civil War.
The Octagon Hall is widely regarded as one of the most haunted places in the South. It has been featured on A&E, The Travel Channel, Syfy, The History Channel, Discovery, and many others.
I have to say it was a very creepy house!

Muncie IN. RV Park

We saw the Uranus Fudge Packers place on the way into our campground, so of course, we had to stop. What a fun place!!!

Michigan

We finally arrived in Michigan to see all my family. We are staying at my sister Laurie’s place with her husband Larry. Nice spot with 50 amp service and water and a dump station. Who could ask for anything more!

Alex flew up to Michigan to hang for 4 days. Alex and Laura went to downtown Jackson to check out the resurgence of the town. Lots of art and murals that were not there when I grew up in the area.

The whole family went camping over the labor day weekend at White River campground. 14 of us, kids included! Oh, and 7 dogs total! We had a great time.

Larry and Laurie, Brian and Collette and us went to the Outlaws, ZZ Top and Lynrd Skynrd concert! It was an amazing time!

Lynrd Skynrd ROCKED THE HOUSE!!!

Our golf outing. Was a great time with a ton of laughs!

One of the highlights was seeing my niece Breanna and now hubby Eric get married. Beautiful venue and wedding!

Off the Hook

Our next stop before we land in Michigan for a month is Off the Hook campground. Nice spot with two lakes right on the campground. Watched a bunch of geese land on the water. We will be here for a week then we’re off!

Air Force Museum

Today, we went to the Air Force Museum in Dayton. It is the world’s largest aviation museum in the world! Lots of pictures for you aviation enthusiasts.
